CADA Seeks Teachers; Will Offer Training Through Fellowships

The Center for Applied Drama and Autism (CADA) is seeking to add new teachers and project staffers for the upcoming 2022-2023 season. Teachers are part-time, quarterly positions, with each session lasting ten weeks, one hour each week. Pay averages $200-250 per session.  Project staffers serve as mentors, co-actors, directors, and/or technical support for a variety of projects. Stipends average $500-600 per project depending upon time involved. Past projects have included CADA’s One Act Play Festival and the Virtual Variety Show.

The ideal candidates are those with teaching experience, particularly with disabled and autistic youth and adults, combined with a theatre background. For those interested in acquiring some of this experience, CADA is offering fellowships.

Fellowships include six hours of online professional development on Saturday, August 27 from 9AM-4PM ET, for which the $300 fee is waived. Student Teaching will take place over ten weeks in CADA’s online fall session. Student teachers will be paired with a CADA teacher and will learn how to develop goals, plan, lead, mentor, co-act with our students, and provide progress reports at the end of the ten weekly classes. Upon successful completion of the CADA fellowship program, paid part-time opportunities will be made available to participants.

Paid opportunities this season include teaching online and live on-site, leading workshops, mentoring actors through CADA’s co-acting techniques, assisting with projects including providing technical support with inclusive podcasting and YouTube events. All positions are paid through state and local grants.

If you would like to apply for a teaching position or be considered for a fellowship, please send a brief paragraph as to why you are interested in our program and attach a resume with references.  Background checks are mandatory for all employees.
